DENNY ADKINS LOW ROUND 75 at THISTLE GOLF CLUB

Another good turnout for the Myrtle Beach tour, and we had some pretty good scores. The Thistle lived up to it reputation and was in good shape, and the facilities are probably the best on our tour. The lowest round of the day was from Denny Adkins who had a 75, and another low round from Jordan Ivey who had a 76 in the A Flight. And the Championship flight didn’t disappoint with a couple of 77’s from John Brietzman and Ken Whitehurst, Tony Apperson and John Burks followed with 78’s. The winners for the Martins Gift cards are as follows: Read more »

Good Field and Better Golf With a Low Round of 69 by Tony Apperson

Great turnout, and super crowd of out of town tour players and also guests …. We had a total of 19!!!! And total of 48 players, which led to a good payout for the winners. Also the course looked like it was in good shape and we really got treated well, a big improvement over the last management. So I think we might be coming back, it is a very good facility. We also had some pretty great golf played sat…. how about Eagles cancelling out in the skins game !!!! (Steve Kubik and Brock Elder both eagled #16) John Breitzman had an eagle on #4 and that held up for a skin. And those of you who played #7, noticed the close to the pin marker about 9feet away from the flag, well that was Tony Appersons shot from the Blue tees 245 yrds away…. I though it was a sure winner BUT it didn’t hold up Brock Elder from the same yardage got it closer… some kind of golf…. And by the way don’t fell so bad for Tony he wound up with the low round of the year a bogey free round of 69!!! Read more »

Flight IV Player Ron Payne Match Play Champ

I want to thank everyone who played in this event, it really went well and we didn’t have any problems. The pace of play Sunday was great, Saturday was a little slow, but overall better than last year. I think the staff of both clubs did a good job in handling the event, and other than the greens at St James both are great layouts. And considering the history of the St James and their great conditions I believe them saying our severe winter caused them the problem on the green. But I look forward to getting this going for next year and hopefully we will get another flight or two. Read more »

Faulkner Brothers Come in First and Second

We had a real good turnout with about 13 tour members visiting the beach, to play in an E-Golf event. Thank, for the early tee time we did not get caught up in the real heat of the day…… and we really had some low rounds of golf. With a Chris Faulkner shooting a 70 from the back tees. And we also had so many birdies in all flights that all the payouts were pretty good…. Champ and A Flt $60 each,,,,, B,C&D Flt $25 ea…. And Super skins $145 ea. All in all a good day, we had a little slow play from our first group and that slowed up one side, and I know we will do better….. Here are the results for the day: Read more »

Jack Sudol Wins First B Flight Tournament

Well what can I say about the weather we beat sat….. I am thankful for the people at Crow Creek for working with us to get our round in…. and all you players for making the conditions work for us. With all the changes in our pairings it really went smoothly. So thanks again, for your cooperation and patience. We had one of our better turnouts on a Holiday weekend, and thanks to all the visiting tour players. We also had some new members and guest who I hope will be joining. Read more »

Columbia Tour Wins at the Beach

We had all visiting players win all flights in the Regular tour at Long Bay. We had a pretty spectacular performance in the Championship flight from Jonathan Mathis. Mathias in his first trip to the beach had a 2 under par 70 from the Black tees, which included 6 birdies. Jonathan is a player from the Columbia Tour, and I hope we get him back. In the A Flight we had a familiar guest Jeff Wassil win in a one hole Read more »

Ray Fesperman Wins First Event Back on the Tour

Another good day with the weather, and probably one of the best pace of play rounds we have ever had. You finished your rounds in about 4hrs 15min range…… pretty good. I think the fact that we had a lot of threesomes helped and it was welcomed. And we also had a first this week….. eagles cancelled each other out in the Championship and A flight skins. Tony Apperson and Brian Holzberger both had 3’s on the par 5 13th…. Tough day. Read more »
